NEW YORK — The wait is almost over. Rockstar Games has sent the internet into a frenzy by announcing that pre-orders for the highly anticipated Grand Theft Auto VI (GTA 6) will begin on June 25 at midnight local time.
Here is a breakdown of all the official details Rockstar has revealed ahead of tonight’s drop.
Pricing and Editions Confirmed
For months, analysts have speculated whether Rockstar would push beyond the standard $70 price point for AAA games. Today, the studio confirmed those rumours: the Standard Edition of GTA 6 will launch at $79.99.
For players looking for the ultimate Leonida experience, the $99.99 Ultimate Edition offers a massive range of exclusive in-game content. This premium version includes special vehicles, customised weapons, exclusive apparel, and unique actions that are woven into the story of the game’s dual protagonists, Jason and Lucia.
No Disc, Pre-Loading, and Bonuses
In a significant shift for physical media collectors, Rockstar announced that retail copies of GTA 6 will not contain a game disc. Instead, the physical box will feature a digital download code. To support players with slower internet connections, both digital pre-order customers and physical box purchasers will be able to begin pre-loading the game on November 12, a full week before the official November 19 launch.
Early buyers will also receive in-game perks. Anyone who pre-orders the game before November 20 will unlock the “Vintage Vice City Pack,” and digital pre-orders will include a free month of the GTA+ subscription service.
Cover Art and Setting Details
Alongside the pre-order details, Rockstar finally unveiled the official GTA 6 cover art. The sun-drenched, Vice City-inspired artwork features protagonists Jason and Lucia front and center, surrounded by elements that define the Florida-inspired state of Leonida. The art includes fast cars, speedboats, an alligator, and returning characters like veteran bank robber Raul Bautista.
As the midnight launch approaches, console players are advised to wishlist the game on the PlayStation and Xbox storefronts to receive immediate alerts when the pre-order pages go live in their local region.
