At the age of 25, Moonbin of the K-pop boyband ASTRO died away, according to reports.
Today (April 19), the management of the artist discovered him dead at his home in Seoul’s Gangnam neighbourhood, according to the Seoul Gangnam Police Station (via Yonhap News, as translated by the Korean entertainment website Soompi).
“It appears that Moonbin took his own life,” the police said in a statement obtained by the outlet.
The notion of an autopsy to ascertain the specific cause of death is now being discussed.
Moon Sua, a member of the K-pop girl group Billlie, had a brother named Moonbin who was older. As a member of the ASTRO spin-off group Moonbin & Sanha, Moonbin was also slated to play at the Dream Concert in Busan, South Korea, the following month. In January, the pair released an EP called “Incense.”
Since 2016, the K-pop group ASTRO has had an active member named Moonbin. Along with the rest of ASTRO, excluding Rocky, he formally renewed his contract with Fantagio Music in January 2023. As a member of the group’s first official subgroup, Moonbin & Sanha, which he formed with fellow member Yoon Sanha, Moonbin has also recently acquired prominence. In-Out, the duo’s debut EP, was released in 2020. With the release of their third EP, Incense, in January 2023, they made their most recent reappearance. On March 18 and 19, they began their maiden tour, known as the DIFFUSION tour, in Seoul. In April and May, they were supposed to go to Macau, Taipei, Jakarta, Tokyo, and Osaka.
The organization pleaded with supporters “to please refrain from speculative or malicious reports.”
Moon Bin, who was born in Cheongju, Chungbuk Province, started his modeling career as a youngster in 2004. In 2006, he had an appearance in the music video for the song “Balloons” by the band TVXQ. In the 2009 season of the Korean drama Boys Over Flowers, he made his acting debut. The 2019 television series At Eighteen is among the other credits.
In 2016, the six-member boy band Astro made their debut. Moon Bin momentarily left the group in 2019 due to health issues. He came back in 2020 and was one of the members of the group hosting the Korean music program Show Champion.
As a member of the ASTRO spin-off group Moonbin & Sanha, Moonbin was also slated to play at the Dream Concert in Busan, South Korea, the following month. In January, the pair released an EP called “Incense.”
‘Drive To The Starry Road’, ASTRO’s third and most current studio album, was released in May.
Rocky from ASTRO announced his resignation from the K-pop group earlier this year. At the time, the band’s management company, Fantagio Music, said in a statement that they will “continue on as a five-member group in the future.”
