How the date of Easter is calculated
Western churches (Catholic and Protestant) set Easter as the first Sunday after the first ecclesiastical full moon on or after March 21. The "ecclesiastical" full moon comes from church tables, not live astronomy, so it can differ slightly from the real full moon. This rule, going back to the Council of Nicaea in 325 AD, places Easter between March 22 and April 25.
Orthodox churches use the same rule but with the older Julian calendar, so Orthodox Easter is often one to five weeks later, and sometimes on the same day.
