How the age calculator works
- Years: the number of birthdays you've had.
- Months: full months since your last birthday.
- Days: the days left over after the last full month.
Example: someone born on March 15, 1990 is exactly 36 years, 6 months and 16 days old on October 1, 2026. That's 13,349 days, or 1,907 weeks.
Month-end birthdays are handled the common way: if a month is shorter than your birth day (for example, you were born on the 31st), the calculator uses the last day of that month.

How is age calculated?
Age is the number of full years since your date of birth. Your age goes up by one on each birthday. For the months and days part, the calculator counts full months since your last birthday, then the remaining days.
How do I calculate my age in days?
The calculator shows it for you under "Total days". By hand, count the days from your birth date to today, including every leap day (February 29) in between.
When do people born on February 29 celebrate their birthday?
In common years, many leap-day babies celebrate on February 28 or March 1. For legal purposes, rules vary by country and state. This calculator counts the birthday on February 28 in non-leap years.
Can I calculate age on a past or future date?
Yes. Change the "Age on this date" field to any date, for example to find your age on a wedding day or the age you'll be at retirement.
What generation am I?
Common generation ranges (as used by Pew Research Center) are: Baby Boomers 1946–1964, Generation X 1965–1980, Millennials 1981–1996 and Generation Z 1997–2012. Generation Alpha is commonly used for people born from about 2013 onward.
What is Korean or East Asian age?
In the traditional East Asian system, a baby is 1 at birth and everyone gains a year at the new year. South Korea officially switched to the international system in 2023, which this calculator uses.
