Why Ramadan dates are "expected"

A lunar year is about 354 days, around 11 days shorter than the solar year. So Ramadan moves earlier through the seasons, completing a full cycle in about 33 years. In the late 2020s it falls in winter in the Northern Hemisphere, which means shorter fasting days.
